NOTD: Modern Tribal Nail Art

I'll be very honest with you all, this was not intentional.  I actually had a design in mind, then I f *cked up and basically got annoyed and started making slashes on my nails LOL!  Then this design appeared, and I actually liked it.  Total fluke really, but when I showed my friend she told me it looked like a modern tribal, so thanks Lulu, you described this very accurately :)

So I hope you enjoy even though I took it late last night with instagram (I told you I'm loving instagram)

Base: RBL Stormy
Design created using Models own pen

This is a more accurate depiction of the RBL's Stormy :)

Total Mess? or Controlled Chaos?
Be Honest, I have thick skin :p xxxx

Grey Nail Polish Comparison

A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about Dior Gris Montiagne, and a couple of people said they loved it, but the price was too steep.  Well, I'm a grey polish lover, so I pulled out the other greys that I had and did a comparison swap.  Although, I didn't have a dupe for the Dior, the others were definitely in the same colour family and pretty close.

Dior Gris Montaigne, No 7 Grey Skies, Barry M Grey, Rescue Beauty Lounge Stormy

Of course I forgot one, because right now all my nail polishes are hidden inside a drawer, but luckily I remembered I had this one.  So another close one, but still no dupe.
Models Own Grey Day

I'm glad I did this comparison post for many reasons.  First, I can show this to DH and show him how different my grey polishes are, because I'm tired of hearing him say, "You already have a grey nail polish" LOL. Lastly, because this makes me feel better about spending the money that I did on the Dior LOL xx

Which one do you guys like the best?
Also, did you know I'm hosting a blog giveaway that is sponsored by Incoco?
You can find all the details at

Take care everyone xx

The New French Manicure

If you are a nail fanatic, then you know that the classic french manicure (nude with the white tip) has been very passe over the last few years.  Everyone has done the different colour tip to spin the classic french around.  A few days ago, I saw Sophy Robson has done a new take on the french manicure.  If you don't know Sophy Robon, definitely google her. She is coined the Nail Queen for a reason!

Last night I tried to do her new manicure, but failed, because a lot of my nails are not in the long pointy shape that the new manicure needs.

Basically my thumb and a few nails were too short and too round to pull off the thin curving smile tip of the new french manicure.  It's suppose to just grace the tips and create a "smile", but instead I just look like I have a thin french manicure line.

It's suppose to look like this:

Images taken from sophyrobson.com

You see how the edge of the tip goes deep down. I'm going to have to wait to get a nail brush in order to get it down that deep, but how fab is that?!?!

Anyways, so with my failed "new" manicure, I decided to do something else to it to liven it up.

Just played around with the tips.
I'm loving the grey and blue combo.
I used Rescue Beauty Lounge's Stormy and Illamasqua's Phallic.

Today I'm giving my nails a rest. All this acetone is making my cuticles hard as a rock. So I'm not going to do anymore nail photos, but it's going to be time for cuticle pampering.

how do you like the New french?
Love it? Hate it?

My Favourite Spring/Summer Nail Polishes

I realised that I'm quite a bore this summer compared to what some other people are wearing. LOL! I'm not on the beach, or going anywhere tropical, so my nails aren't reflective of these bright trends that grace our magazines. Instead, I'm really loving a greyed-out more neutral look.  My mother in law said to me the other day "Dear, you must like grey...it must be in fashion". awww, was that a compliment or insult? haha.  Either way, she is correct.

Here are my favourites for this summer.

China Glaze - Sea Spray
Eyeko - Rain
Illamasqua - Raindrops
China Glaze - Pelican grey
Zoya - Dove

Butter London - Fash pack
OPI - You don't know Jacques
Ulta - Finely Pruned
China Glaze - Below Deck
Essie - Merino Cool
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Insouciant

I also realised that these colours are not just reflective of my mood, but also my clothing. I am a huge fan of Alexander Wang Clothes because of their minimalist cool/edgy modern wear but also for his muted colours.

He also makes a lot of his fall/winter wear in black, and black is exactly the colour that I wear in the winter as well :)

Love AW & Love my matching polishes!

OH and don't forget to enter my giveaway

****swoon****

Now here are the lemmings that I can't afford lol

Madison Square Garden
I use my samples very very sparingly.
At $260 a bottle, well let's just say it might take a few years to acquire this! But I love it

Jo Malone Luxury Candle in Grapefruit
This massive candle is not only elegant, but smells so good. I close my eyes and picture this candle in my future home and at $375, it will be in my home for years!

Yep it's nice to dream sometimes ladies, isn't it?
So these are my top 10 current lemmings, believe me there is more, but I don't have enough hours in the day to write out everything that I want lol

What are some of your current lemmings?
And if you have any of the above mentioned products, what are your reviews? Love? Hate?

Rescue Beauty Lounge - Please come to London

As I say goodbye to the states, there are lots of things that I will surely miss.
Diet coke refills, black friday, ice, constant sales, and I just discovered recently..Rescue Beauty Lounge nail polish. Yes, nail polish is trivial compared to what is going on in the world today, but while some drink their sorrows and anxieties away, I like to look at color in little bottles to try to fade away how crazy life really is.

Only being a few blocks from rescue beauty lounge last week, I am kicking myself about not buying these polishes before I left the NYC area. stupid stupid me!!!

I adore the colors, but I oddly adore the owner of the business (very rare for me). I don't know her and yet I do. She is very similar to me in many ways, I even emailed her to tell her that. I hope she doesn't think I'm some psycho fan either lol. But I definitely believe in supporting businesses run by people that I can respect.

So Ji - if you are reading this! Please come to London! I want to work with you!!

But for all the readers out there, her new Iconic line is currently on sale, so
shop Rescue Beauty Lounge

I am seriously making my wishlist or polishes to buy. I love them all, seriously.
