 My favourite of this entire collection has to be a toss up between The Spy Who Loved Me and GoldenEye.  I have to say that out of all the holiday collection this year, OPI has won my heart.

Elevation Polish - Toubkal Swatches & Review

There is something magical about being able to capture so much beauty into a little bottle of polish.  This is exactly the case with this special polish that arrived on my front step this week.  Lulu behind Elevation Polish, not only has an amazing eye for colour, but she also has the technical aspect pat down and as a result, EP provides excellent formulas.

I am so pleased to be able to blog about Toubkal.  It is a complex and gorgeous polish.  This is a photo heavy post, so please be ready :)

Toubkal is rich eggplant/magenta base with gorgeous shimmery gold flecks.  The formula is excellent and provides a smooth application.

One Coat

Toubka is the polish that I wished OPI Teasey does it was.  The OPI version is blacker in the base, and therefore hinders the gold flecks from coming through.  They are similar, but Toubkal has a more vibrant purple base that compliments the flecks better.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone :)  

Yes, I'm over here being a bit anti-social as the mood here is a bit awkward.  So I retreated into my bedroom and decided this is a perfect time for me to post up my favourite nail polishes of 2011.  I'll be doing a separate favourite beauty products of 2011, but this one is for the nail polish lovers out there.

The nail polish that are going to be featured will not surprise anyone, as I'm pretty sure these are favourites of many ladies out there, but I really do LOVE these.

A Merry Day With OPI's Merry Midnight

I tried going to bed last night at 10:30.  I ended up laying in bed and watching shows on my iphone until like 4am hA! So much for early night sleep and early rise.

I heard some really annoying news about what some people were doing on a forum I belong too this morning.  I let it dampen my mood, but after talking to a very wise wise lady, I realise how petty and how insignificant that was to let it dampen my mood.

It just reminds me about how glad I am for those that I have built a friendship with now (You ladies know who you are). 

Anyways, so my day has brightened up.  DH is feeling better, and it's not too cold.  Oscar is running around barking at people through the window as usual, and I decided to put on one of my most precious polishes in my collection.

I layered it over one coat of OPI Black Cherry Chutney

And since apparently I wanted more flakies, my right hand as a layer of Nubar 2010 and WOW

talk about Flakie Explosion (as my friend called it).

 

Now this brings a smile to the inner polish addict in me.

OPI You Don't Know Jacques Original and Suede

This has been around for a long long time. I loved it back when it came out, and I love it now.  I recently got Suede, so I wanted to show the two back to back, despite being completely different.

 

I love the matte texture of the Suede, so I wondered what the original would look like if they just have made it matte.  I guess it didn't fly so well on the OPI drawing board, so they added a bunch of silver glitter to the Suede version to make it look more interesting.  I personally like the matte original as well.  What do you think?

My New RAOK Nail Polish Package

I am so exicted about my new polish acquisitions, so I just had to share this with you.  My friend from the states has sent me a box, and when I heard Oscar barking like crazy, I knew it was the post man.  He brings a happy box to me, and I ran downstairs to quickly rip it open.  Oh the joy! Are you guys ready? I got some really rare beauties here, and none more greater than the gorgeous OPI Merry Midnight!!

On top of this package, my friend who stopped by to see me brought me Gosh's Black Passion after she found it at a charity shop for only 50p.  That's what I call a bargain!!

What a FUN group of polishes that I was fortunate to be gifted.

NOTD: OPI I Want To Be A Lone Star

Whoever comes up with these names at OPI is doing a bang up job.  I want to be a lone star is a  slightly frosty but muted grey/light blue creme polish.  Just think of China Glaze Pelican Gray and China Glaze Sea Spray mixed together with a tiny hint of pearly frost on top and you got yourself the OPI polish.  I like it :) Thank you to my friend who sent this in her last package to me, she knows me far too well!


I really like OPI.  I think out of all the nail polish ranges out there, it is the most consistent in terms of great formula, lasting power, and diversity of colours.  Having said that, this was slightly  thick, but I am guilty of not rolling it before, so it could be my fault.


But I'm enjoying this very much today.

The nice thing is that this was not streaky, and it was opaque with 2 coats. The first coat was looking slightly streaky, but the 2nd one sealed the deal and smoothed it all out.  If you like this, google it and ebay this, because you don't want to pay £10+ for an OPI polish.  Since it is not the current collection, you can probably get it for slightly cheaper now.  Try Asos, they are currently doing a 10% off sale items, and I believe I saw it there for under £8.  

So this is day 2 of my Project 10 pan.  I'm being a good girl, working through my items, and not shopping :)  I have been keeping off of other blogs less (which really helps), and I've been making lists of things that I am interested in, things that I really want, and things I can't live without haha.  I'm suppose to be going shopping on friday with a friend, but I will only spend my Debenhams points voucher and that's it! That's technically not shopping, because there is not output of new money hahaha :p

Sorry this post is way way late.  I had a quiet month as far as swaps went, because I did one massive swap with Ashley over at buttonboxx.  I definitely did come out with some items that I'm very happy about.  Here's my swap haul for July...

OPI My Private Jet (NLB59)

Illamasqua Cream Foundation was something out of the ordinary for me.  I usually use liquid foundation and then set with a powder.  It's been a long time since I actually used a cream foundation out of a compact.  This item is quite misleading, at first glance of the cream, I thought it would actually be too dark for me, but when applied, it was actually a little too light for me.  I think this will end up being my winter foundation.  I did like the formula, it was very smooth on the face, and didn't highlight my enlarged pores as much.  They also have a pleasant soft vanilla scent.  But it didn't win me over to returning to cream foundations out of a compact.

NARS Black Moon Eyeliner was an impulse swap.  It's mainly because I am obsessed with all things Nars, and not because I needed a black eyeliner.  I have like 20 black eyeliners and I'm struggling to get through them all to be honest.  But like I said, I couldn't resist swapping for another NARS item, because they are in my top 5 favourite brands.

OPI My Private Jet was one of those polishes that I felt I needed in my collection.  This version is not the original black holographic one, but it's the dark brown shimmer one.  it's a nice colour don't get me wrong, otherwise I wouldn't have swapped for it, but it's definitely not filling the hole that the original black holo polish can only fill.  Oh well, maybe one day I will become lucky enough to get one, until then, at least I have this version in my collection.

I promise I'll have more fun things to show in August.  I have another massive box swap with Buttonboxx, and I have already gotten a really hard to find nail polish in a swap recently, so check back at the end of this month for my August swap haul post. xx

NOTD: OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui

I have no idea what the reference of this polish is, but none the less, I love this colour. I was able to find this polish at Sally's here for only like £3.

Sorry everyone, I cut my finger on my left hand, so my hands aren't really photogenic lol, but I really hope the colour makes up for it.

 

I'm really feeling blues at the moment, and this just fits nicely into all the other blues that I seem to be loving.

OPI usually has great application and staying power.

This was a little on the thick side, but honestly nothing to complain over.

NOTD: OPI Jade is the new black NFU OH 71 and so much more

I was all ready to write this post about my nails, and then I saw online that Amy Winehouse was found dead today at 4pm.  I know a lot of people either hate her or really hate her.  I'm not going to go into the troubled singers drug habits and other issues she got herself into, but I'm going to focus on her voice....and I absolutely loved her back to black album.  This is rare coming from me, since I think pop music is the root of all evils (just kidding), but I really did love her voice, and saddened that someone so talented would go into a downward and terminal path.  Sigh..... here's to another wonderful talent lost.


Anyways, today is a bit gloomy, all very fitting for today's events.  I did manage to hop by my local garden party.  What is a garden party? Geez, I'm in the countryside right now ain't I? lol, but I went and got to see what my local neighborhood people looked like, and there were some car boot sales, so I haggled and annoyed some british people today hahaha.


But before all that, I'll show what polish I wore.  First I put on OPI's Jade is the New black, and I actually quite liked it...but lately I've been very bored of just cremes, so I put on Nfu Oh 71 on top.

The Nfu Oh warmed up this polish with it's iridescent gold shimmer.

So I have to show you just how gloomy it was today.

Never tried MeMeMe, I know this brand is sold in superdrugs, but not at my local one, so I was able to pick this up for 50p.  I did test it out and the pigmentation was exactly as I expected, shimmery pinks. I don't know why I bought it hahah, must have been just the allure of the price.  Off it goes to swapping :)  

Sorry all, I'm just not all in the blogging mood it seems.  It's quite sad day today.  I don't like to see people who suffer from depression and drug abuse, I've seen that far too many times in my life. I don't think it's quite all about Amy winehouse dying, but just reminds me of losing my friend, who was also a musician, a while back.  

RIP Phil, we still miss you.
