My Favourite nail polishes of 2011

Merry Christmas Eve everyone :)

Yes, I'm over here being a bit anti-social as the mood here is a bit awkward.  So I retreated into my bedroom and decided this is a perfect time for me to post up my favourite nail polishes of 2011.  I'll be doing a separate favourite beauty products of 2011, but this one is for the nail polish lovers out there.

The nail polish that are going to be featured will not surprise anyone, as I'm pretty sure these are favourites of many ladies out there, but I really do LOVE these.
My favourite polishes are......

Sephora OPI 212, Dior Czarina Gold, Chanel Peridot, D&G Stromboli

Nubar 2010, Chanel Graphite, CG Sea Spray, Dior Gris Montaigne, Illamasqua Raindrops

I would love to know what your favourite polishes of 2011 are, even if it's one of 50, let me know by leaving a comment below.

Now off to be social.
Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!!!!

A Merry Day With OPI's Merry Midnight

I tried going to bed last night at 10:30.  I ended up laying in bed and watching shows on my iphone until like 4am hA! So much for early night sleep and early rise.

I heard some really annoying news about what some people were doing on a forum I belong too this morning.  I let it dampen my mood, but after talking to a very wise wise lady, I realise how petty and how insignificant that was to let it dampen my mood.
It just reminds me about how glad I am for those that I have built a friendship with now (You ladies know who you are).
Anyways, so my day has brightened up.  DH is feeling better, and it's not too cold.  Oscar is running around barking at people through the window as usual, and I decided to put on one of my most precious polishes in my collection.

Such a gorgeous and busy polish

I layered it over one coat of OPI Black Cherry Chutney

And since apparently I wanted more flakies, my right hand as a layer of Nubar 2010 and WOW
talk about Flakie Explosion (as my friend called it).

Now this brings a smile to the inner polish addict in me.
Happy Thursday!

Nubar Nail Polish in Verde

I don't own many Nubar polishes, but from what I do own and tested, there is a reason why they are a leading competitor in the nail polish industry.  Verde was opaque in one coat.  Impressive! It's a beautiful gritty golden green.  How can one not like green when there are green polishes like this out there? Ideal for warm tone skins, but I thought this particular green looked amazing on my cool-tone skin.  I'm starting to really notice Nubar.

My camera tends to layer a sheen of blue on everything, but this polish is a warm golden green. This is the colour on my left hand.  The green in this, is accented on my right hand with the blue green glitter.  So I thought they both went quite well together despite being 2 different colours.

So now I have naked nails, and trying to figure out what colour to paint it.  Should I keep it naked? Maybe I'll just give myself a nice moisturizing manicure right after I wake up from my nap. Damn cold, I wish it would go away. I have to travel to London on business, and need all my energy.  I think I'm going to go with a black base with Rococo's gold leaf? What do you think?

Nubar Nail Polish in Peacock Feathers

You know when there is a lot of hype around a polish, and you can't wait to try it out? Well Nubar's Peacock Feathers was one of them.  Who doesn't love duochrome right?  For some reason, I thought this would be similar to Gosh's Purple Heart, but the base was different, and I believe this is why I found not in love with it as much as I thought I would be.  It is still an excellent nail polish with an excellent formula.  I often wonder about the science behind duo chrome nail polishes, can someone educate me on how they do that so the colours mix, but do not mix completely? Something the nerd inside of me would like to know please :)
Ok, onto the swatches.  This is 2 coats and it lasted 2 days on me before tip wear.

What do you think of this?
Love? Hate?

NOTD Part 2: Nubar 2010 Nail Polish

I really rushed this before the sun went down. Hmm...I should rephrase that, the sun was barely peeking out today, so I tried to get this before supper time.  Ok, so I just had this urge after applying Illamasqua's Phallic to really glam this up even more, and so I immediatey thought FLAKIES!!!!  I'm loving flakies more than glitter at the moment.  So here is part 2 of my NOTD. Enjoy!

I'm loving this so much, that I may actually keep it on my nails for 2 whole days. WOW!

Ahh here comes the storm clouds, just in time!

What's your favourite nail polish finish?

NOTD: Models Own Purple Pearl & Nubar 2010

Happy Easter Monday everyone, that's of course if you celebrate, if not...Happy day off of work :)

I am pretty much fed up with easter duties and decided to be antisocial and paint my nails and blog instead.  Definitely getting use to this immobility of not having a car and being at the mercy of the local transportation schedule. I guess even bus drivers need a day off too :)
So what do I do when I have nothing else to do? Paint my nails! #1 hobby right now for me.

Enjoy!

(weird angling, ewww my finger looks crooked LOL)

(This is me imitating KathyRose :p, although I didn't do it as well as she does it lol)

I tried to get different angles, because the Nubar 2010 is very iridescent and depending on angle it changes from pink, orange, green, yellow, etc. etc. so it really created some multi dimension on top of the Models Own Purple Pearl.

I was highly impressed with the Models Own application.  This is my first and won't be my last. I didn't particularly pick this color because I liked it a lot, I picked it because it was in the 2 pound bin lol So I wanted to get it to test how the formula was and how it applied. It was very smooth, and honestly for a 5 pound nail polish, it is well worth it. I have no complaints about Models Own at all, and utterly excited to nab some other colors on sale! Come on Models Own, bring back that 50% off sale!

This is also my first and only Nubar in my collection.  I got this for a little over $2 on ebay US using my ebay bucks, so after hearing some good reviews on TPF (The Purse Forum) about how the flakies were brillant, I decided to grab it off ebay before I moved to England.  The finish is smooth and the flakies did not add any bumpiness to the polish.  I applied about 3 thin layers of Nubar and that's all it took to completely cover my nail.
This top coat really jazzes up your nail and since the base is clear, it won't interfere with your base coat.

So fun!
Love how little things amuse me now :)
