October Empties

It has been ages since I did an empties review. Probably because I have an attention span of a fly and end up giving away most things before I finish them.  Well I stuck through these, for better and for worse and this is my review.

SUQQU eyebrow liquid pen

This is my second one that I have gone through. The first time, I thought I may have gotten a bad one as it barely lasted me more than a month.  The finish is very natural and great for that daytime natural look, but there is not a lot of product. The actual longevity of the product is great however.  I will not be repurchasing this one for the 3rd time. I am now using a Chanel eyebrow pencil and I am happy with that.  I will definitely be buying their cream foundation however as soon as I muster up the will to drop £65 on it.

This liquid foundation contains spf 10 and is a lovely nourishing natural foundation.  You can build it up for medium coverage, but this is not a full coverage foundation.  I fell in love with the texture and the scent of this foundation and have this in two shades. This one is my winter shade in 020 and I have 040 for when I return from holiday with a tan.  I would consider re-purchasing this one definitely.

LUSH Sun Perfume

Lush released a new series of perfumes last year an this is part of that collection.  Sun is a zesty, citrusy and very fruity perfume.  It reminds me of a fresh satsuma orange peel and is really pleasant and easy to wear.  The base of this perfume is sandalwood oil and it's a very gentle one. It lasts roughly 2-3 on my skin and then it turns into a very subtle sandalwood oil.  The bottle comes with a dropper and not a spray.  I would definitely repurchase this perfume, especially for the summer.

This is a creamy highlighter that I mixed with my foundation and moisturiser for the last year. This 20g pot lasted me that long. You only need a little bit for a healthy glow and it really left my skin feeling moisturised.  There are loads of beautiful ingredients in there like oatmeal infusion, almond oil, and cocoa butter that gave my skin the nourishment it needed.  I highly recommend this one for those who love to use highlighters to brighten up their face.  I will definitely be repurchasing this one!

I bought this foundation after good reviews that I read online.  After using the entire 50ml, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed in this foundation. I found that it dried too quickly and if you didn't act fast when applying, it had a tendency to drag the colour.  I know this one is not for full coverage, but the website stated that you could layer this up.  There were some grand promises with this one and I have to admit that it doesn't stand up to it's review. I will not be buying this one again. The only good part of this foundation is the plastic bottle in which it comes in an it helps with getting all your product out by squeezing it.


Overall this post will give you an idea of the two areas that I am really interested in and that is beautiful skin and perfume.

Suqqu Eyeshadow Brush F Review

It has been too long again ladies, hope you're all doing well. I finally got a chance to snap some photos of my favorite items this month. Let me just start to say that England has not seen sun for the last 3 days, so the fact that these photos came out clear is a miracle! lol.

Suqqu has been a brand that has been unobtainable for me. First off, it's not available everywhere like other high end brands like Chanel and Dior. Second, in the UK, you can only go to see it in Selfridges. So that is what I did.  You may have seen this brush in my London haul post from 2 weeks ago.  I just have to disclose that this brush did take me several months to save up for. It's not everyday that I drop £48 on an eyeshadow brush, but I do not regret it one bit. I'm not kidding either, £48 is well worth this brush, because it is the softest thing on earth. I imagine that if unicorns are real that this is what a unicorn would feel like. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

So here goes the photos...

Firstly, the box it comes in is a very simple and minimalistic box. Standard black paper box with a film on top. I know, I know..for £48, it should have came in a metal box, but I forgive Suqqu for that oversight :p

So it really boils down too one question. How important are brushes for you? For me, they are extremely important. I know no matter how much I bang on about how soft these brushes are, there will be some who really don't care as long as they are saving money.  I totally get that. This was one of my 2 Christmas gifts to myself, and I just couldn't be happier.  £48 is quite a bit, I will be the first to admit that, but let me tell you one last thing about this brush that might make that price sticker not so painful.  When I applied my eyeshadow on my lid, I could not feel the brush.  It was astonishing. The softness and lightness of the brush was so weightless that I didn't think any eyeshadow applied, but it did.  For that reason alone, Suqqu has now kicked all the other brush's behinds and made it to my #1 favorite brush.  Now, how am I going to get £168 to buy the face brush? Should I sell a kidney? lol.

London Shopping Haul - Suqqu, Dior, Chanel and Clinique

I had a fabulous London shopping trip with an even more fabulous new girlfriend of mine this week.  I don't know why, but it is always much more fun to go shopping with someone else.  Well, we hit up the usual hot spots...Selfridges, Harrods, Bond Street, and this time we went to Camden.

This is my haul from this trip, and needless to say that other than my watch that I have been going on and on about, this will have to be the last of the major hauls.  All these beauties has set me back a pretty penny :)

Sorry about the instagram photos. I honestly wanted to get a blog post up as it has been forever since I last posted. I will review these products as I use them a bit more.

 

The haul consist of:

Dior mini palette in Royal Khaki - thanks to my awesome Dior SA!

Dior creme abricot nail cream - I have no idea why I waited to so long to buy this, it's really awesome!

Suqqu eyeshadow brush F - Where have you been all my life? The softest eyeshadow brush that I have ever touched. I died a little and gone to makeup brush heaven!

Dior foundation brush - this new brush just came out with the nude foundation.  This brush is the best brush that Dior currently has. It feels so soft that you can't even feel the individual bristles. It is the 2nd softest brush that I currently own

Suqqu eyebrow pen in green - sorry you can't see this too well in my photos but it's next to the Dior foundation brush. This is my HG eyebrow pen for that natural/everyday look.

Clinique skincare - Liquid facial mild soap and moisture surge

I have used both products a long time ago and although I liked it, I never returned to it, until now.

I got this set, because Boots had an advantage night which was £12 worth of points with any purchase of £50 or more. So ultimately I got this for a lot cheaper than retail.  I think my skin needed some moisture surge as well.  This stuff is amazingly hydrating.

I had to get the full size bottle as I am always on the hunt for good foundation, Dior has never let me down and I do like this foundation a lot; however, I do prefer my extreme over it.

Dior J'adore L'eau perfume

Boots is currently selling this for £34.99 for a 75ml. What a bargain. I tried to find the link, but it looks like it is all sold out now :(

Out of all these items, my favourites are the Suqqu eyeshadow brush and the Dior foundation brush. I am so excited to have these in my stash and I honestly feel like they are the best brushes I have used ever.  I definitely will be saving up for more Suqqu brushes.

June's Lemmings

The weather is so gloomy and dark outside that I decided not to bother doing a review on an item when my photos would look dark, so instead I wanted to share my top high end items that I'm lemming for this month.

The internet is full of eye candy, we can't start our browsers without seeing ads and beautiful things popping in front of us at all times.  So what is a beauty addict suppose to do?  Well what I started to do to make sense of this madness is to write down something that I think I want, then I shorten that list by items that I think I'll want in a year from now, and then I look up reviews online and decide which ones people rave about.  By that point, my huge/out-of-control list will be shrunken down to less than 20 or so items, and I wanted to share with you the top items that I would like to get my hands on within this year.  This year? you ask. Well, considering these are high end, the price on these babies are quite hefty, and in my particular situation, I have to be rational (ugh) and budget money, but if you have the means to spend your money on high end items, then I highly recommend these today. Heck, stop reading this blog and just order it lol.

In no particular order :)

I have not been this excited about a collection launch in forever! 

This is the Fall 2011 Chanel collection, from this list, I am absolutely wanting:

1. Nail vernis in Peridot

(ok, so a lot of people either love this or absolutely hate it.  I joke with my friends and talk about how I like weird and ugly colours, well...Peridot is one of those colours.  Its not quite green, it's yellowed out green, mixed with a slight duochrome of blue and other ugly colours that looks just like muddy lake water.  I love it lol)

2.  Nail vernis in Graphite

There is nothing that screams SUE, more than gritty metallics

I love it, It reminds me of concrete at night when the rain just hits it and the street lights illuminate it to make this weird metallic grit colour. Love!

3.  Illusions d'ombres 

Although I have my favourites, I would love to get my hands on any of these for texture purposes.  They remind me of the Giorgio Armani eyes to kill eyeshadows that I have been wanting, but the colours in this collection are a bit more me.

4.  Cle de Peau - Concealer

I can't remember when I first learned about this product. Was it 2007? 2006? Anyhoo, I have been wanting it forever. I must have read over hundreds of reviews on how it's the best product out there, so what am I waiting for? Oh yeah, it cost like $70 lol

I think before I die, I will get my greedy mitts on this one.

I am very obsessed at the moment about making my aging, discoloured skin into a smooth youthful palette. So I will be investing in concealers and other face makeup that claim to do these things.

5. Guerlain - Meteorites Primer

I have my girls from TPF to blame for my Guerlain obsession lol

Another beautiful item that I've read nothing but great reviews on, and after my fail of a primer by Dior, I really want to venture to this product next.

It looks beautiful, doesn't it? Reminds me of Bubble tea :p

6. Hakuhodo Brushes

Where have these been hiding all my life? I am the most eager to try these brushes out of anything on my list, because I know once I invest, these will be with me forever. 

I have to give it up for the Japanese and their precision brush making skills, heck their love and art of brushes in general is just worlds beyond any other.  Hakuhodo brushes are apparently the creme de la creme of all the brushes, so obviously I'm greedy-eyed for these instantly.

7. SUQQU - Brow Pen

This is another japanese product that I had no idea about until I moved here to England.  Apparently it's waterproof and gives out the right amount of product to create a soft or intense eyebrow depending on how you build it up. 

Lisa Eldridge raved about these, and what Lisa says, Sue usually does LOL

So this has made it to my top wish list items. Thanks LIsa for making me broke :)

I'm going to have to head into Selfridges London for this one soon.

8. YSL Touch Eclat 

Is everyone sick of how widely these are marketed? We see these everywhere.  I think they are coming out with more colours as well.  It's suppose to be a highlighter pen that you use under your eyes to give you that lift and youthful glow. Did anyone say youthful glow? I guess my 30's will be the eternal search of how to make myself look like I'm 20 again hahaha.  (Speaking of, I got carded the other day, made me smile inside)

Well anything that claims to give my face that youthful look has already won me over.

9. Edward Bess - Eyeshadows

Ok I'm so happy that Zuneta.com finally decided to sell this product.  What I'm not happy about is the exchange rate and how these are priced over here in the UK. 

I have heard nothing but amazing things about this product. I'm loving the swatches and I need him in my life.  

10.  Chantecaille - Les Macarons Palette

I usually don't like pink, but something about this palette makes me think that these are the colours I need to brighten up my face a bit.  I am loving the colour range, and this would be a perfect Sunday afternoon look for me.  I don't know why, I'm just so drawn to this palette.  The only thing that has stopped me is the price obviously, but if I see this in person, I don't think I can resist tbh.

Ahhhh....now the sun wants to come out.

Review: SUQQU Eye shadow: ex-43 Hakugin

I am a lover of minimalism.  Whether it is visual art, furniture, or clothes.  I especially love anything with a contemporary minimalist spin to it.  The Japanese have this nailed. From their minimalist furniture to beauty products. I saw this brand SUQQU at Selfridges online and I was quite intrigued.  It is sleek, comes in a "plain" black box, the lettering nor packaging is fancy, but it is very chic. It just happens to be one of the most expensive brands that I have ever fancied.

I was obsessed with researching this brand for a week.  After all my online hunting, I was able to obtain an eyeshadow for a mere £2.50.  It was a once in a lifetime find, especially at that price. Amazing deal right?

Ok, so onto the product.  Packaging looks and feels the same as the Armani eye shadows come in.  However, the plastic that the eye shadow comes in is a bit cheap.  It reminds me of how the old Bobbi Brown eyeshadows use to weigh and feel.  Lucky for suqqu, their actual eyeshadow is amazing!!!! They have a 5 out of 5 rating on makeupalley and when the girls at mua don't have anything to complain about, then you know it's a must have product.  I believe this is an older eye shadow hence the price, so I'm not sure how it compares with the more recent versions (which I hope to try out soon), but I have absolutely no complaints about this powder eyeshadow.

it is not a chalky white which I was afraid it might be.  It has a subtle shimmer that is light reflecting and therefore you see small (very small) presence of pink, blue, green, yellow shimmer.  Just enough to reflect light and not make you look like someone threw glitter all over your face during a rave.  It is very pigmented but blends so nicely into your skin.

I am elated to have this in my collection and can not wait until I can acquire some more Suqqu. I'm definitely on a Japanese product kick.  I think we may have a problem Houston! It seems like Suqqu and Hakuhodo is going to take all my money!
