Leighton Denny Nail Polish in Daylight Robbery

Leighton Denny is ridiculous expensive here, and I basically save my pennies for Chanel and Dior at that rate, but TK Maxx had a great deal on Leighton Dennys, so I nabbed a few.

Daylight Robbery is muddy greenish dark blue base with a subtle violet shimmer. I don't like "blurples", but this one works for me as the violet shimmer is very subtle and the blue base is a greyed out muddy blue.

The first layer is very sheer, you will need at least two or three coats to make this opaque.  That was a bit disappointing as I really can't stand sheer polishes.  But the end result made up for this.

I'm on the fence about whether to keep this one or not.  I like it, but the formula is just too thin and sheer.  I'll have to think this one over or use it as an undie.

What's your favourite Leighton Denny?

TKMaxx spy pics of Color Club & Leighton Denny

Had yet another interview...heard the same thing "you're overqualified", "we are impressed with your skill sets"...well, ummm...where are the job offers people?!?!! ugh.

Anyways, that's my life these days. Looking for jobs, taking phone calls, answering emails.  I am glued to the computer, so I had to peel myself away and made it into town.  I popped into tkmaxx and I behaved myself.  I didn't buy anything, but I did spot some really good deals, so I wanted to share with you all in hopes that someone out there grabs themselves a good bargain.

First up...
COLOR CLUB POLISH SET
£7.99

That second polish looks amazing!

Next....
LEIGHTON DENNY SET
Yes it's £24.99, but considering that's the price of 2 polishes, this isn't that bad of a deal

There were tons of Michael Kors scarves & hat sets for £10 on clearance that were cute, but none of the packaging was that great.

Have you gotten any good deals at TKMaxx?
Please share below with me :)

Tiger & Leopard Wah Nails Inspired NOTD

Lately, I've been unable to do a a full manicure of just one colour. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.  I finally got my Models own nail art pen, so I decided to give it a try today. Why not right? It's rainy and gloomy, so I'm home playing with my nail polish (big shocker! lol).

The base polish is Leighton Denny's Golden Girl. It works perfect for this nail art, but on it's own looks horrible on me.  It's a gorgeous colour and formula, but just way too orange gold for my cool toned skin.

As you know, my love for nail art has grown, as with my love for Wah Nails, and I am embarking on this experiment to do Wah Nail designs based on their nail chart that they have online, so here is my version of the leopard and tiger print.  You can obviously mix colours, but I love the combination of gold and black, and I also love the accent nails instead of doing the entire hand just one print.

oopsy got to clean up the edges!

Wah Nails Experiment: Glitter Gradient Nails

You won't even believe what I did today.  While I tried to do some home improvements, and put up some hooks on the door, I got super glue all over my left hand.  The same hand that I use to take NOTD photos with.  The same hand that I've been having issues with dry patches of skin too.  So yeah...um...super glue all over my hands, wrists, and thumb.  Not a good look lol.  I spent all day trying to get it off of me, but instead it just made my hands super sore, and just white and patchy.  But with some acetone, and warm water and soap, after a few hours I finally got it off of me.  What a pain in the a$$!

Well, I did manage to get my first try of the Wah nails.  I am starting easy.  I have no tools or anything.  I only have nail polish, so I wanted to start with something that didn't need any tooks.  The glitter gradient nails are gorgeous.  I'm absolutely loving this.  I will however do some updated versions later, but for now...here is my first attempt at gradient nails.

Nail polishes used in the order I used them.

Essie's Fill the Gap
I used this as the basecoat
Once it dried, then I applied two layers of

Models Own - Grey Day
One that dried, I painted a rough french manicure with

Leighton Denny's Diamond Diva
After that has dried, I applied

Paul & Joe #34 (medium size glitter polish)
I applied this only to the middle of the nail.
This will help blend the rough lines of the french manicure
Then I applied over the full nail

Revlon's Belle
You want to use a polish that has big and small glitters to finish off the gradient look.
And finally finished off with

Seche Top Coat

I think next time I'm going to use a muted pale blue, or black to make the silver nail polish stick out.  I also regret not using Deborah Lippmann's Today is a Fairytale to finish off the look.  Nothing says Diamonds than a nail polish that has diamond dust in it :)

I hope you enjoy this look!

More Magazine Mayhem - freebies & asian models

When I saw online that Harper's Bazaar was giving away a free Leighton Denny polish, I walked right up the road to grab my copy. I was afraid that this would go super fast, so I definitely didn't want to sleep on it.

I got my Orange Leighton Denny polish.  Orange (like yellow) is one of those colours that I'll probably wear once or twice this season, so there really is no point of me spending lots of cash on this type of colour.  Having said that, I love it.

And next month's freebie is going to be awesome!!!!
A Christopher Kane tote. I have really needed these types of totes, because I'm all about not using plastic for shopping these days.

Yes so that's awesome right?
But what's even more awesome is the presence of Asian (East asian) models in the magazines lately.
I know to a lot of people (who aren't Asian) this is not a big deal really, but it is to me.  I love to see Asian faces, other than my own in the mirror, in the media.  This shows that the public is more receptive of diversity and it shows that Asian women can be beautiful too.  We know the stero-types about Asian women and frankly it's all archaic and bull sh*t and to see more Asian women in magazines, media, films, arts - it is thrilling!
