June's Lemmings

Wow, I really fell off the trail with this one, didn't I? Well I'm back and will make more of an effort to continue with my monthly lemming posts.  Well in the past, I have hated summer collections.  Partially due to the fact that it was all happy and cheerful LOL! I guess I never equated myself to being a cheerful bubbly person, so I never really got into colours like that either. But boy, have I changed?  Yep, ladies, you heard right.  I am embracing COLOUR! :)

To go with my H&M orange jeans that I recently bought lol, yes I feel funny admitting this, but I just bought orange/tangerine jeans to go with my leopard top hahaha.  Oh times have changed.

Anyways, back on topic.  June's lemmings are full of colour, and here they are.

I just tested this out today, and the shimmer on this baby is out of this world!

Dior lip gloss in Orange pareo 

It is the lip gloss to the very far right.

 I don't own any lippie remotely orange, not even coral to think of it, but this lip gloss won my heart over.  It isn't as scary as it looks and quite natural.  It gives a gorgeous shimmery slightly coral hint to your lips.  I need this in my life!

 Dior - BB Cream

 

Another product that I tried today and fell in love with.  Only a little bit is needed and it gave me the coverage that I wanted with a healthy glow afterwards.  Absolutely the best BB cream that I have used to date.  Oh this may be my HG skincare product now.

This is a the promo shot that is going around the web and who knows what the final product is going to look like, but if Vertigo (black base with red sparks) and Frenzy (lilac grey) is what they say it is, then mama is going to have to shell out some cash for them :) Thankfully it's not until August, so I have some time to save my pennies up!

Another reason why Chanel always takes my money from me.  I missed coco blue, so I have an excuse to get skyline then, right?

So that is currently my June lemmings. I did just buy the Dior mascara extase in purple and the Dior eye gloss in Sunset, so that's the other two lemmings I had.  I am really excited to grab the Dior BB cream, so look out for future reviews on those products.

BFTE Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadow in Isis Review

This is a review on a brand that I had no idea about until a friend gifted me their mineral eye shadows. BFTE stands for Beauty From The Earth and specialize in mineral pigments for multi use.  The one that I tried today is called Isis which is a "Low-shimmer Blackened blood red, with red-bronze under tones".  It was a very interesting colour to say the least, which is why I tried this one first.

 

I don't know why but the fact that this mineral eyeshadow contained Copper and Silica concerned me. I'm sure it's nothing to be alarmed about, but it just felt like those two ingredients should not go near my eye haha.  I'm sure I am wrong about this (can someone educate me on this).

I have done some googling prior to writing this review, because I wanted to see what others are saying.  Most of the press out there seem to be positive, so I am reluctant to write my review, because it's not a favourable one for BFTE.

Let me start by saying something positive, how about that?

Isis is a gorgeous colour - rich, vibrant, and pigmented.

Well pigmented when you initially apply this mineral to you skin.  

 

Then something odd happened. This gorgeous colour began to disappear as I began to blend it more and more into my skin. Take a look...

and then 10 seconds later, you can barely even see it...

I have never known a pigment to do this, and I always want something pigmented and long lasting on my eyes, so this was definitely a bit of a disappointment.  I don't know if this is Isis alone, or if they are all like this, but this specific product is a total fail for me.

Like I said, I really hate saying anything negative about a small indie makeup company, but this product really was a flop.  I hope their pigments aren't all like this, as I'm pretty sure nobody wants pigments with major fall out and does a disappearing act once you begin to blend it.

So for all those reasons, I can not recommend this product to my lovelies that read my blog.

Benefit Foamingly Clean Facial Wash Review

I started to use the Benefit Foaming cleanser in the beginning of April.  I initially purchased this, because I had a sample of it before and absolutely loved the fresh scent.  I also thought that it left my face feeling squeaky clean, so I ended up paying retail for this.  I wanted to use this cleanser for some time before reviewing it in all fairness.  The last two months has been the best two months in regards to blemishes.  I don't know if it's a result of this product or not, but I can say that I only had 2 blemishes throughout these past couple of months.  That's amazing for me!  I do believe that this product did cleanse my skin of all the dirt, oil, and grime on a daily basis.  

So today when I went to use the cleanser, nothing would come out.  The bottle is made of a hard plastic, so it's kind of hard to squeeze out the product.  I knew that there was product left inside, because when you hold up the bottle to the sunlight, you can see slightly through it.  So I decided to cut it open just to see how much product is left inside and wasted once you can't get any more out.  You guys are going to be shocked as there was roughly 25% still remaining inside.  Doesn't this remind you of the Urban Decay primer potions that we all had to cut to get the wasted remainder?

 

I wasn't about to leave all the cleanser, so I depotted it into another jar. 

What a waste right?

So if it wasn't for the awkwardness of the bottle and product wasted, I would have given this cleanser a 9/10, but instead I'm going with a 7/10 as it really was a hassle to try to get the rest of the cleanser out.  I understand that Benefit wanted to keep up a level of quality by making the plastic bottle hefty, but it doesn't allow you to squeeze out the entire product, so it's a bit of a fail in regards to packaging.  I will probably repurchase this cleanser sometime down the line if I see it for a good price on ebay, but other than that, this really was inconvenient and not practical.  

Has anyone else used this? and faced this issue with this cleanser?

New Shoes

It is Jubilee weekend.  I never knew what this whole Jubilee was about, but apparently it's a big deal over here lol! I guess I truly am an American.  Well, my in laws are having a family get together, and so I took off of work for the next 2 days (WOOHOO!!).  I think I'm a bit more excited about that than the actual Jubilee.  My Jubilee weekend will consist of me blogging, cleaning/sorting out my room, and getting stuff out to charities. 

Speaking of Charities, I have some new shoes to show you.  I got these at a whopping £1.80.  They are from a brand that I never heard of (Mustang), so I googled them of course and apparently Mr. Shoes was selling them for around £70 many moons ago.  I don't mind, they are just a nice bargain and the quality of the shoes were quite sturdy.  I'm trying to get out of this designer mentality, although I'll be honest, it is awfully hard to do.  But for £1.80, I really can't complain.  

 

and since I haven't spammed you guys with Oscar pics, here's is one of him.  He's doing well, still chasing cats and running after the birds lol.

But he's doing well and precious as ever.

So it does pay to pop into charity shops..oh did I add these were brand new as well? Best £1.80 that I have spent in a long long time.

DIOR VIP UK Program

The Dior VIP program is not highly publicized here in the UK, mainly due to the fact that it's not even half as good as the VIP program from the US.  In the USA, each point you spend on Dior products can be saved to redeem for Dior gifts.  They can range from deluxe samples to actual full size products.  I know back in 2010, I fully took advantage of this program and reached up to the 1000 points (which was the maximum prize back then).  If you missed that post, you can check it out HERE.

So when my awesome Dior SA told me that there was in fact a Dior program in the UK, I signed up for it.  She did explain it wasn't like a redemption program, but I signed up anyways as I do spend an awful amount of my extra spending cash on Dior.  Why not right? Well, she showed me this gorgeous catalog that was send to the Dior VIP members and I was so bummed out that I missed it, it really was a beauty and a collectible item for those who are nerdy like me and like to collect that kind of thing.   So I just wanted to show you what was actually send to me in the post.

Now don't get too excited, it isn't amazing, but I did enjoy receiving mail from them.  It recognizes that I am actually a loyal customer and little things like that do actually work to retain customers.  

A set of 5 heavy duty card stock promo materials came to my doorstep. Each card was beautifully designed with different products featured on the back.

And I was invited to the counter for a preview.  Dior lippies aren't my favourite out of the high end luxury ranges, so I probably won't take advantage of this, but I will take this into my fav SA and see if she may have some samples or what not in exchange for the makeover :)

 

So like I said, it isn't the best thing I've gotten, but I was definitely spoiled by the Dior USA VIP program.  I hope that the UK program will catch up and instate a program like their US counterparts.  It also doesn't help that Dior cost more here than in the US, but at this point, I'll take whatever the VIP program has to give me. Something is always better than nothing, right?
